Capital Project grants help B.C. not-for-profit groups complete larger projects that improve community life.
These grants support projects that are:
- Accessible to the public
- Built around a clear community need
- Designed to help a wide range of people
- Located in British Columbia
The funding is meant for capital projects, which usually means larger purchases, upgrades, renovations, or assets that last for years.
Who is eligible and who can apply for Capital Project grants?
Capital Project grants are for eligible not-for-profit organizations in B.C.
Your organization generally needs to:

- Be in good standing
- Have a clear community benefit
- Have volunteers involved in the organization or its programs
- Show that your project is ready and needed
Some groups are not eligible, including for-profit businesses, governments, hospitals, schools, and organizations created only to raise money for capital projects.
What do Capital Project grants fund?
Capital Project grants can support four main types of projects:
- Facilities: New builds, renovations, repairs, accessibility upgrades, kitchens, bathrooms, elevators, roofs, and more.
- Community infrastructure: Public spaces like parks, trails, docks, playgrounds, and recreation areas.
- Acquisitions: Long-term assets such as vehicles, vans, buses, equipment, technology, and property.
- Repatriation projects: Projects that help return Indigenous cultural belongings.
What are the conditions of the grant?
Before applying, organizations should be ready to show:

- Matching funds that are already secured
- A timeline showing the project can start within 12 months
- A plan to complete the project within 36 months
