What Is the From the Ground Up Grant Opportunity in Manitoba?

Opportunité de financement

Helping people in your community is one of the best things you can do. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of help to turn a great idea into something that saves lives or makes every day a bit easier for a neighbour. That’s where the From the Ground Up program comes in.

This grant is all about making neighbourhoods in Manitoba safer and friendlier for everyone. If you have been dreaming of a project that helps people get around better or feel more connected, this could be the boost you need.

From the Ground up is a grant opportunity from the Manitoba government. It was made to help local leaders fix up their communities. Instead of just big city projects, it looks at what people really need right where they live.

  • It helps build things like playgrounds or community kitchens.

  • It supports programs that keep kids safe and busy after school.

  • It helps with “revitalization,” which is a fancy way of saying “making a place feel new and alive again.”

  • The goal is to remove barriers so that everyone, especially kids and families, can thrive.

Who is eligible for From the Ground Up?

This grant is meant for groups that are already working hard to help others.

  • Non-profit groups: These are organizations that do not make money for themselves but put everything back into their mission.

  • Municipalities: Local town or city governments can apply to improve their public spaces.

  • Northern Affairs Community Councils: Groups that look after communities in the northern parts of the province.

  • Indigenous organizations: Groups focusing on supporting Indigenous families and youth.

  • Handi-transit: Community non-profits filling service gaps (not core transit).

  • First Nations: Wellness and youth-focused mobile programs.
