The funding is meant for capital projects, which usually means larger purchases, upgrades, renovations, or assets that last for years.

 

 

Who is eligible and who can apply for Capital Project grants?

Capital Project grants are for eligible not-for-profit organizations in B.C.

 

Your organization generally needs to:

  • Be a not-for-profit or eligible community service co-op

 

  • Have received a Community Gaming Grant in recent years

 

  • Be in good standing

 

  • Have a clear community benefit

 

  • Have volunteers involved in the organization or its programs

 

  • Show that your project is ready and needed

 

Some groups are not eligible, including for-profit businesses, governments, hospitals, schools, and organizations created only to raise money for capital projects.

 

What do Capital Project grants fund?

Capital Project grants can support four main types of projects:

  • Facilities: New builds, renovations, repairs, accessibility upgrades, kitchens, bathrooms, elevators, roofs, and more.

 

  • Community infrastructure: Public spaces like parks, trails, docks, playgrounds, and recreation areas.

 

 

  • Repatriation projects: Projects that help return Indigenous cultural belongings.

 

What are the conditions of the grant?

Before applying, organizations should be ready to show:

  • A clear project plan

 

  • A project budget

 

  • Third-party quotes or cost estimates

 

  • Matching funds that are already secured

 

  • A timeline showing the project can start within 12 months

 

  • A plan to complete the project within 36 months

 

  • A plan to maintain the asset or project long term

 

Late or incomplete applications are not considered, so this is one of those grants where paperwork really does matter.

 

Quel est le montant du financement disponible ?

The Capital Project grants program provides $5 million each year.

 

Applicants can request:

  • 20% to 50% of the total project cost

 

  • Up to a maximum of $250,000

 

Eligible projects must have a total cost between $20,000 and $1,250,000.

 

Does the funding support wheelchair accessible vehicles or mobile medical units?

It may, depending on the project.

The guidelines list vehicles, vans, buses, delivery trucks, and vehicle modifications as possible eligible acquisition projects.

 

That means a wheelchair accessible vehicle may fit if:

  • The applicant is eligible

 

  • The vehicle is used for community benefit

 

  • The vehicle is owned by the organization for long-term use

 

  • The project meets all grant rules

 

Dates limites à connaître

For 2026, applications are open from: July 17 to August 31, 2026

Applicants are expected to receive results by December 31, 2026.
