How the Mobile Clinic Electrical System Works
If your mobile clinic is an E Transit, that means you're driving a fully electric vehicle. The engine is powered entirely by electricity, but your clinic equipment inside the van still runs on a separate power system. Understanding how those two systems work together is important for keeping your clinic powered and ready to operate. In this video, I'll walk you through how your electrical system is set up, how to connect to shore power, how to monitor your batteries, and what to check if something isn't working. Your mobile clinic has two separate electrical systems. First, the vehicle battery powers the van itself, including things like your motor, dashboard, headlights, and climate controls. This is the battery you'll charge at an EV charging station just like any other electric vehicle. Then there's the conversion battery. This is a separate battery bank that powers everything inside your clinic, including lights, outlets, medical equipment, pumps, and other accessories. The two systems are independent, which means charging the vehicle doesn't automatically charge the clinic battery.

How to Connect Your Mobile Clinic to Shore Power
Shore power is the main way to charge your conversion battery and run clinic equipment without draining the batteries. To connect to shore power, plug the provided power cable into the exterior shore power inlet, then connect the other end to a compatible power source. Once connected, the system will automatically begin charging the conversion battery.

How the Inverter Switch, Breakers, and Fuses Work
Inside your clinic, the red inverter switch needs to be turned ON for the outlets to receive power from the battery. When you're connected to shore power, your outlets will work whether the inverter is on or off, because shore power passes directly through the system. The electrical panel includes breakers and fuses that protect different circuits throughout the clinic. If an outlet or piece of equipment stops working, check the panel first. A tripped breaker or blown fuse is often the cause.

How to Monitor and Charge the Mobile Clinic Battery
Your battery monitor shows the current charge level of the conversion battery. Get into the habit of checking it before you head out for the day. Starting with a full charge gives you the most flexibility when operating away from shore power. One important thing to know is that the E Transit does not charge your conversion battery while you're driving. The vehicle battery and clinic battery are completely separate. Your conversion battery is charged through shore power or your solar panels if your clinic is equipped with them. At the end of the day, plug into shore power whenever it's available. This keeps your conversion battery topped up and ready for the next day.

How to Store and Troubleshoot Your Mobile Clinic Electrical System
If your clinic will be stored for an extended period, keep it connected to shore power if possible, or check the battery level regularly to prevent it from draining completely. If something isn't working, start with the basics. Check that you're connected to shore power, confirm the red inverter switch is on if you're running from battery, check your battery level, and look at the breakers and fuses in the electrical panel. That covers the electrical system in your E Transit mobile clinic. If you have questions or run into something you can't resolve, reach out to our customer care team. We're here to help.

Questions fréquemment posées :

1. Does the vehicle battery also power the mobile clinic conversion?

No. The vehicle battery and the conversion battery are separate systems. The vehicle battery starts the engine, while the conversion battery powers the lights, fridge, outlets, and other equipment inside the mobile clinic.

2. Do the clinic outlets work when the red inverter switch is off?

When the clinic is running from the conversion battery, the red inverter switch needs to be ON for the outlets to receive power. When the clinic is connected to shore power, the outlets can operate whether the inverter switch is on or off.

3.  What does the conversion battery power inside a mobile clinic?

The conversion battery powers equipment and systems inside the clinic, including lights, outlets, medical equipment, pumps, and other accessories. It operates separately from the battery that powers the vehicle itself.

4. What should I check if something electrical stops working in my mobile clinic?

Start by checking the conversion battery level and confirming the inverter switch is on when operating from battery power. If you are using shore power, confirm the connection, then check the electrical panel for a tripped breaker or blown fuse.

5. Should I connect my mobile clinic to shore power when it is not being used?

When shore power is available, connecting the clinic helps recharge and maintain the conversion battery. For longer periods of storage, keep the clinic connected to shore power when possible or regularly check the battery level to prevent it from becoming fully discharged.
