The fund has two streams:

  • Individual organization funding: Supports one emergency service group.

 

  • Regional funding: Supports shared emergency needs across a region.

 

This fund can help teams improve safety, response time, and readiness when every second counts.

Who is eligible and who can apply for the Emergency Services Provider Fund?

You may be able to apply if your organization is a:

  • Fire department

 

  • Ground search and rescue organization

 

  • Hazardous materials, or HAZMAT, organization

 

  • First responder organization

 

For the Regional funding stream, groups must work together with other first responder organizations and a municipality.

Organizations can receive funding once every 2 years.

 

What does the Emergency Services Provider Fund fund?

The fund may help pay for equipment that is used directly in emergency response.

 

For individual organizations, eligible items include:

  • Personal protective equipment, also called PPE

 

  • Self-contained breathing apparatus, also called SCBA

 

  • Communications equipment

 

  • Firefighting equipment

 

  • Rescue equipment

 

  • Water supply and suppression equipment

 

  • HAZMAT equipment

 

  • Emergency power for buildings

 

For regional projects, eligible items may include:

  • Major equipment

 

  • Specialized vehicles and trailers for regional use

 

  • Shared equipment pools

 

  • Regional mobile command units

 

  • Training facilities

 

  • Drones, rescue kits, rehab units, and similar equipment

 

  • Regional risk planning and training programs

 

  • Mental health resiliency programs

 

What are the conditions of the Emergency Services Provider Fund?

Here are the key conditions to know:

  • Funding is only for approved eligible costs.

 

  • Costs must be from June 1, 2026 to January 31, 2028.

 

  • Operating and admin costs are not eligible.

 

  • Equipment must be used directly in response to a fire or emergency.

 

  • Approved groups must sign the funding terms and conditions.

 

  • A Statement of Expenditures must be sent within 60 days after the project is complete.

 

Quel est le montant du financement disponible ?

The fund may cover up to 90% of eligible costs.

 

Maximum amounts are:

  • Up to $30,000 for individual organization funding

 

  • Up to $200,000 for regional funding

 

There is no cost to apply, but your organization must cover the rest of the project cost.

 

Does the funding support ambulances?

Ambulances are not named directly on the funding page.

For the Individual organization funding stream, vehicles of any type and vehicle upgrades are listed as ineligible.

For the Regional funding stream, specialized vehicles, trailers, and regional mobile command units may be eligible when they support regional emergency response. If your group is thinking about an ambulance or emergency response vehicle, it is best to confirm the fit with the funding provider before applying.

Important dates include:

  • Individual organization funding intake: June 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026.

 

  • Regional funding intake: September 1, 2026 to October 31, 2026.

 

  • Eligible project cost window: June 1, 2026 to January 31, 2028.

 

  • Application review time: About 6 to 8 weeks after the deadline.
